Frequently Asked Questions
-
Stoneco offers sizes ranging from smaller 3–6" rock to larger 12–24" boulders for construction and landscaping projects. Custom gradations may be available upon request.
-
Start by assessing the site to understand the area, plus water flow and wave impact if your project is to prevent shoreline or riverbank erosion. Clear vegetation, excavate a trench, and lay down geotextile fabric to prevent soil erosion.
Place large rip rap (6–24") tightly in the trench to form a solid base, then build upward in an interlocking pattern that extends slightly above the expected water or drainage level. Fill any gaps with smaller stones, check for stability, and perform regular inspections to be sure the rip rap barrier is performing as intended over time.

Use our online calculator to estimate the amount of rip rap needed for your project. Simply enter the dimensions of your area, and we'll provide an approximate quantity.
